Psychotherapy & Coaching:
What is the Difference?

Psychotherapy
Coaching
Work on internal conflict and psychic pain of the past and present.
Focus on present and future.
Therapist is the follower and expert.
Coach is co creator with client.
Stories are essential in examination and identification of feelings is core work and therefore, stories are essential to the insight into deep imbedded beliefs.
No stories! Often we use stories to live out limiting beliefs that are getting in the way of happiness.
Diagnosis puts client into the medical model of “mental illness” or treatment for emotional problems.
Client has all the answers inside, there is no illness component. Realization of dreams and make them come true through plan of action. Accountability component adds to intention based focused goals.
Relationship with therapist provides opportunity for transference to further understanding of how client relates to others in their life. Relationship is essential in “redoing.”
Belief in potential and desire to actualize yours.
Unknown potential of self.
Expanding your life to dimensions of spiritual awakening.
